Sheets clean messy pots like ‘magic’

Say goodbye to those cooked on, greasy, icky messes that inevitably appear in your sink. And, do it in an organic, nontoxic way to boot.

Leave it to a member of a large Italian family to come up with the solution.

“I come from a large Italian family and we used numerous pots and baking pans for our family gatherings,” said Maryssa DeAngelo, the inventor of Magic Sheets and president of Magic Products LLC.

“After dinner it was always cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. I found I was running out of bathroom sinks and even bathtubs to soak all the pans in and so I decided there had to be a better way,” DeAngelo said.

Hello, Magic Sheets.

These biodegradable (within 21 days) sheets are infused with an organic blend that helps pull the food and debris away from the surface of pans and dishes. They loosen the food particles, thereby eliminating the need for lengthy soaking and strenuous scour pad work.

Instead of soaking, wet the Magic Sheet and wipe down the pan. Then, fill the pan with water and drop a sheet in the middle. After just about 15 minutes the debris will have loosened and can be wiped away. Toss the sheet and use a basic sponge and a few drops of dish soap to finish the job. You’ve saved hours, not to mention the wear and tear a scrubber might have caused.

Along with being a time-saver, Magic Sheets eliminate the need for purchasing scouring pads, abrasive cleaners and other dish care products typically used for pots and pans.

Magic Sheets are also ideal for cleaning grimy barbecue grills.

A box of 40 Magic Sheets retails for $6. For more information, visit www.magicproductsllc.com.

Mini Hammer can still pack a mighty punch

Mini can be mighty.

When swinging a full-size hammer isn’t an option or just isn’t necessary, there’s now a smaller choice: the Mini Hammer from GreatNeck Tools.

Despite its small size — it weighs just 8 ounces and measures 6 inches long — the hammer delivers heavy-duty power. It’s made of high-carbon steel for extra strength and durability.

With its comfortable, ergonomic grip, the Mini Hammer is easy to handle, easy to use and reduces hand fatigue. And since it fits so neatly in the palm of one’s hand, it provides increased accuracy and control, which means less possible damage to nearby surfaces.

The shorter handle makes getting into tight spaces a breeze, especially when it comes time to use the claw to remove unwanted nails.

The hammer has a suggested retail price of $7.50.

Gaining control over this annual weed is not easy to do

To make sure it doesn’t return you have to interrupt the seed-to-flowering-plant cycle at least for a couple of years and fill the voids with something competitive.

Why did my bird of paradise plants quit blooming?

They were in bloom when we planted them five or six years ago, and they bloomed the following year as well. But they have not bloomed again.
