Amana lets you Jot notes right on fridge

In the past, the refrigerator was just a place to keep food cold. Today, it’s also become a place to post messages for the entire family to see as well as an art gallery.

Eventually, the door becomes so packed with notes and masterpieces attached by magnets, it looks as if it could fall off from the sheer weight of all that paper — never mind the fact that important reminders often get buried beneath the latest note or fall off and flutter under the fridge.

But, fret no more. Amana has created an innovative solution: a refrigerator with a dry-erase surface.

The Jot dry-erase refrigerator looks like an ordinary white refrigerator. It even offers the same type of convenient features, including dual, up-front temperature controls, a deli drawer and storage bins for gallon containers in the door. But it also includes blue and black markers — courtesy of a special partnership with Crayola.

The dry-erase surface on the door panel can be used to record messages, manage schedules, draw pictures or compete in a friendly game of tic-tac-toe right on the refrigerator.

The refrigerator has a total capacity of 17.6 cubic feet.

Other features include a top freezer, rounded edges and corners, combined with hidden hinges and an integrated door handle for a contemporary look, and SpillSaver glass shelves that make cleaning spills a snap.

Of course, if you still prefer to hang your notes, you can do that too. The refrigerator also is magnetic.

Already available at retailers, the suggested retail price of the Amana Jot is $499.

Gaining control over this annual weed is not easy to do

To make sure it doesn’t return you have to interrupt the seed-to-flowering-plant cycle at least for a couple of years and fill the voids with something competitive.

Why did my bird of paradise plants quit blooming?

They were in bloom when we planted them five or six years ago, and they bloomed the following year as well. But they have not bloomed again.
