Luxury on Parade
April 19, 2008 - 9:00 pm
A chance to see some of the latest luxuries and techniques in home building, as well as some of the area’s most exclusive neighborhoods, is being offered to valley residents. Thirteen homes will open their doors to welcome visitors during the Las Vegas Parade of Homes, which began Friday and continues through May 4.
“This is the most extraordinary Parade of Homes,” said Lisa Hester, executive director of the Las Vegas Parade of Homes.
Homes within The Ridges village in Summerlin, Southern Highlands in the southwestern valley, Seven Hills, Roma Hills, MacDonald Highlands and Green Valley Estates in Henderson are featured on the tour.
“From desert contemporary in The Ridges, Asian contemporary and romantic Tuscan in Southern Highlands and Seven Hills … to the pure definition of luxury living in Roma Hills and MacDonald Highlands, the Parade offers the public a chance to experience the most spectacular homes in the valley and glimpses into some of the most exclusive communities in our region. This Parade of Homes is simply just not to be missed,” she said.
Hester said nearly 50 vendors will be showing their products throughout the homes, including upscale appliances, building products and custom furnishings.
She said the Parade allows visitors to see how products can be incorporated into an actual living environment and offers plentiful ideas for people to use in their own homes.
Among the featured residences will be the Central California/Nevada Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers’ first Showcase house, as well as a house featuring furnishings from the Las Vegas Design Center. Both are located with The Ridges village in Summerlin.
Nearly 15 interior designers collaborated on the ASID Showcase home, named The Falls. The 17,195-square-foot home was built by Michael and Rhonda Mona owners of Monaco Development. Each designer focused on a different room in the home, incorporating unique furnishings, fabrics, wall coverings, lighting fixtures and decorative accessories that seamlessly blend to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The custom home is noted for its nine water features and extensive stonework throughout the interior and exterior of the home, said Lucky Miller, project manager for the Monas.
Furniture, art and accessories featured throughout the home were loaned to the designers by various designer showrooms in the valley and the Las Vegas Design Center. They can be purchased along with the home, which is listed for $18.5 million, or separately.
Spearheading the Las Vegas Design Center’s home were Michealena Perry, manager of the Four Hands showroom, and interior designer Nancy Woolf. Named Shi-Engara, the home is decorated with a contemporary Asian theme.
“The professional designers have come to the Parade of Homes and transformed it into awe-inspiring, one wonder after another,” Hester said. “It’s pure unbridled, custom everything.”
“The professional designers from the ASID Central California/Nevada Chapter, the Las Vegas Design Center at the World Market Center, Area West and all of the professional designers have converged on to the Parade making every site the best version of its intent. We really feel as though the Las Vegas Parade of Homes has really come in to its own,” she added.
Hester said her enthusiasm for the event grows more each time she visits the homes and she can already feel the excitement building for the fall Parade, which is scheduled for Oct. 17-Nov. 2.
The home tour will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The residences can be visited in any order. Maps and a suggested order to visit is available on the Parade’s Web site, www.lvparadeofhomes.com.
Tickets are $25 and are available through the ASID online with Paypal or credit card at www.asidcanv.org or at any of the local La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries locations in the valley.
Tickets sold by the ASID benefit the Las Vegas chapter of Habitat for Humanity, while proceeds from ticket sales by the Parade of Homes will benefit Opportunity Village.
