Las Vegas projects win inaugural GAVA honors
GAVA, Global AquaTekture Visionary Awards, recently announced the winners of its inaugural competition that recognized the innovative spirit and creativity of water-themed designs.
Entries were judged on their aesthetic beauty as well as how each exemplified the objectives of the project; designs also were recognized for exhibiting original and diverse concepts that demonstrated respect for environmental, cultural, philosophical and/or historical components.
Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were presented to 39 projects by architects, contractors, homebuilders, pool builders, artists and landscape architects from across the globe, including Australia, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, the Caribbean and the United States. Ten Las Vegas projects won Gold GAVA awards.
Local gold award winners in the residential division were ATM, acrylic tank manufacturer, and Paragon Pools, designer, for liquid window; Attanasio Landscape Architect, landscape architects, for dynamic modernism; Dal-tile Corp., tile manufacturer, and Paragon Pools, designer, for casita spa; Leslie Rankin, Glassic Art, artist, for Glassic mirage waterfall; Nuvis Landscape Architect and Planning, landscape architect, for Snyder residence pool and fountain, and for Christopher Homes Boulder Ridge model pool; Sun West Custom Homes, custom home builder, for Villa Capacious and for Club Point; and Tannie’s Design Works, interior designer, for Earth Elements.
GAVA is presented by Three V Enterprises, a Las Vegas-based corporation, and recognizes artisans globally whose visions and creativity exemplify the best in AquaTekture; the discipline of designing, engineering and erecting of water environments and ancillary components, in a harmonious nature with consideration to function, space and aesthetics.
Master of ceremonies for the reception was TV host and Las Vegan John Daly.
Judges, representing different disciplines, were Charles Kubat, an architect and urban planner from Kubat Consulting of Las Vegas; Melissa Menard, an art curator from Pieces Fine Art of Los Angeles; and Nancy Bohnett, an interior designer and educator from The Art Institute Las Vegas.
