Rose pruning class set for Saturday

The proper way to prune roses, as well as information about how to care for roses in Southern Nevada, will be the focus of a workshop and demonstration Saturday at the Sienna campus of St. Rose Hospital, located at the corner of St. Rose Parkway and Eastern Avenue.

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the session will be led by rosarians from the American Rose Society and the local South Valley Rose Society chapter.

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is sponsoring the workshop. The extension is an outreach arm of the university that offers unbiased, research-based knowledge from University of Nevada and other land-grant universities to the community. Educational programs are developed based on local needs, sometimes in partnership with other agencies and volunteers.
