Flower arrangers guild begins new season

The Las Vegas Flower Arrangers’ Guild meets today at 9:30 a.m. at the Nevada Garden Club Center, 3333 W. Washington Ave., in Lorenzi Park. An exchange of dried plant material and review of the mechanics of flower arranging will be featured.

The meeting also will focus on plans for the annual fall flower show, which will take place Oct. 25-26.

The guild meets the second Thursday of every month from September to May. Guests are always welcome. Programs emphasize creative abstract designs as well as traditional. A special hands-on workshop, open to the public, is planned for Jan. 8.

Log home expo opens Friday at Cashman

A log home and timber frame expo will be held Friday through Sunday at Cashman Center.

About 75 of the nation’s leading companies and craftsmen will exhibit their wares and services throughout the event. In addition, experts in a variety of log home and timber-frame home topics will present seminars.

The show is scheduled from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $15 for a three-day pass, with children 15 and younger admitted free.
