Garden Clubs to host annual flower show
When the morning temperatures become chilly, you know the season for Nevada Garden Clubs Inc.’s annual fall flower show has arrived. “Mysterious!” is the theme of this year’s show, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Nevada Garden Club Center in Lorenzi Park, 3333 W. Washington Ave.
Floral designs on display will interpret some of the great mysteries of the ages: Stonehenge, Atlantis, the Great Pyramid, Bermuda Triangle and Area 51.
Horticulture exhibits will display autumn flora and foliage of the Southwest and, in a bow to Halloween, there will be artistic craft awards for carved pumpkins, Halloween table centerpieces and decorated trick or treat bags.
Show hours are 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. -4 p.m. Sunday.
The public is invited to participate. Admission is free.

Workshop set to help with licensing process
The Nevada State Contractors Board invites those interested in applying for a contractors license to attend a free workshop designed to assist them with the process. The session is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Henderson board office, 2310 Corporate Circle, Suite 200.
The Business Assistance Program was created to provide information to complete the contractors license application process quickly and accurately. Information in locating source documents for the application is provided, as well as a checklist of state and local agencies and other resources.
Additionally, those attending will have the opportunity to have their complete applications reviewed by staff before submitting them for approval.
The state of Nevada requires that all contractors, including plumbers, painters, landscapers, electricians and roofers, be licensed.
