Furniture-grade closet systems gain favor

Homeowners no longer use closet space for the sole purpose of hanging clothes and storing shoes. Closets are now part of the functional luxury of the home, presenting more spacious-looking bedrooms.

In response to the growing trend, the SEN Design Group and Jay Rambo Co. have joined forces to teach homeowners how their home enjoyment and value can be positively impacted by adding a furniture-grade closet. The growing “closet as furniture” phenomenon may include granite countertops or a coffee station in the dressing room, to name just a few popular touches.

“The closets of today are like built-in cabinet furniture being designed and sold by the same design professionals who are known and respected for the high-end kitchen and bathroom products,” says Ralph Lackner, president of Jay Rambo Co. “We have seen this custom-closet trend percolate over the past several years.”

Both Jay Rambo, a furniture-grade closet cabinet manufacturer, and the SEN Design Group, a national organization of independent kitchen and bath design professionals, understand that this homeowner envisions a closet system with all of the quality and design features they have come to expect in the kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, the vast array of styles and finishes available in these furniture-grade closet systems greatly enhances a bedroom’s appearance.

Among the hot, furniture-grade closet accessories are built-in ironing boards, islands with seating, stacking washers and dryers, televisions, integrated morning kitchens with built-in coffee makers, his and her single and double hampers, safes and jewelry drawers.
