Design center to host stars’ wall upholsterer

Dean Robert Jones, a wall upholsterer who has worked with some of the most-recognized names in interior design as well as notable clients, will be the featured guest speaker at this month’s First Friday program at the Las Vegas Design Center, which is located within the World Market Center.

Scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday on the 16th floor of Building B, Jones will present “A Stitch Above the Rest.”

Jones said he plans to show photos of completed projects as well as samples of wall upholstery and techniques such as leather button tufting. He will show everything from home theaters to bedrooms and discuss dos and don’ts regarding fabrics along with acoustical benefits and durability of wall upholstery, which he calls “one of the most elegant things you can do to your walls.”

Jones’ presentation is part of the design center’s monthly event especially for interior designers and other home-furnishings professionals.

Reservations are required and can be made by e-mailing lvdc@lvdesigncenter.com or calling 599-3093. Those who register on-site will be asked to make a $20 donation to Safe Nest.

Normally open only to the trade, this month’s seminar also is open to guests of Hadassah Tzipor, a volunteer organization for women. The event is being coordinated by interior designer and chapter member Phyllis Levy, and Hadassah Tzipor will receive a donation for each item purchased during the day.

A donation of $30 per person is being asked; it includes a dairy luncheon buffet. Reservations must be paid in advance and are due by Monday. Checks can be sent to Bethann Casar, 7648 Broadwing Drive, North Las Vegas, NV 89084.
