Survival strategies topic for designers
Mark Cutler, president of Mark Cutler Design, will present “Survival is the New Success; Working in a Slow Economy” at Las Vegas Design Center Aug. 7. His presentation is scheduled from 10- 11:30 a.m. in C-184 at World Market Center Las Vegas, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway.
Rated by the Robb Report as one of the top 40 design firms in the country, Cutler will share his success strategies, including creative ways of generating new sources of income, practical budget-friendly marketing techniques and ways to cut costs and streamline expenses. Among the topics he will discuss are using the Internet and social networking, and planning to take advantage for when the economy turns around.
Cutler believes a slow economy delivers many challenges to designers, but also offers a huge number of opportunities.
He said designers should be extremely active in marketing and business development now. “Don’t drop out and make plans to come back,” he cautions. “Now is when to throw yourself at building the machine to take you into the next boom period. Now is the time to lay the groundwork and plant those seeds that are going to sprout eventually.”
Cutler’s presentation is part of Las Vegas Design Center’s monthly First Friday lecture series. The day’s event also includes showroom specials for industry professionals.
Reservations are requested and can be made by e-mailing LVDC@LVDesignCenter.com or calling 599-3093.
