Cooperative extension offers vegetable gardening classes
University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is offering a one-day, two-class series about vegetable gardening in small spaces.
During the sessions, Angela O’Callaghan will focus on topics such as types of containers to use, composting, basics of fertilization, warm vs. cool crops, biennials and perennials, pest management and extending the growing season.
Scheduled for Aug. 29, the beginning class will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and the advanced class will be held from 1-5 p.m. Both will be held at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road.
Class size is limited and preregistration is required. Cost is $15 per class; the fee includes materials and one plant. Additional plants can be purchased for $2 each.
