Cooperative Extension offers free gardening classes

Area residents are invited to take a free gardening class offered as part of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Training Program. Each three-hour class in the 24-class series is taught by UNCE faculty or local horticultural experts.

Topics for the classes include introduction to plants, desert bioscape, soil amendments, mulches and compost, fertilizers and plant nutrition, and introduction to irrigation techniques.

Fall classes for the program begin Sept. 14 at the Lifelong Learning Center, 8050 Paradise Road, Suite 100. They will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The free offer is for one class per person on a space-available basis. Reservations are required.
