American Leather introduces fashionable, versatile designs

American Leather, a leather furniture innovator that sees its designs as fashion statements, put the focus on pieces that are versatile, comfortable and stylish during the recent HD Expo in Las Vegas.

Using the theme Wine and Roses, the furnishings were displayed in black, white and fuchsia to capture their innovation and functionality. From the contemporary storage capabilities of the Uno to the unique design of the Comfort Sleeper, American Leather sought to enhance the creativity in the market.

Among the introductions was the Arclounge by Rick Lee. The piece has a tall back that rounds down toward the front seat cushion. An ottoman sits separately and can be used as a coffee table or fit into the concaved arc of the sofa to form a large conversation pit.

Another sofa, the Vivian, is a slim curved piece. It maintains its shape from the sides throughout the back, with a slight outward curve at the top and base.

The Clever is a stressless recliner that sits on an angled steel base. The push-back recliner offers a stationary ottoman rather than attached leg support and presents a very contemporary look.

Bella is a small-scale accent chair with traditional nailhead trim in brushed chrome around the bottom perimeter. More contemporary in nature, the piece has tapered, thin arms.

In bench seating, the Madera offers a variation to the museum bench with an inset shelf/pocket in the base for extra storage. There are two flip-top trays that provide a sturdy foundation for a coffee table function or the side cushion for additional seating.

Among the top innovative products introduced during the expo is the patented Comfort Sleeper. As part of the manufacturer’s collection of convertible sofa sleepers, the Marci includes a proprietary mechanism, the Tiffany 24/7. The design offers an efficient use of space and a more comfortable sleeping surface than the standard sofa sleeper. It also allows users to enjoy a mattress with the same dimensions as a conventional bed — from king down to cot — all concealed inside a sleek, moderate-sized sofa. As an added benefit, the Comfort Sleeper requires 10 inches less floor space in front of the sofa to open into a bed, while offering an additional 5 to 8 inches in length.

The firm’s most popular ottoman, the cube-shaped Uno, offers storage capabilities as well as serving as an occasional table with its reversible and removable tray-top design.

Sabrina is a tall, sleek-framed corner accent seat with button tufting on the back cushion and tall, exposed wood legs.

Each of the company’s designs is available in a choice of as many as 70 leathers or 93 ultrasuede colors. The line also includes customization options such as contrasting welt, leather/ultrasuede combinations, various brass tacks and choice of legs, which are offered in walnut, natural, cherry, black or brushed aluminum.

Founded in 1990, American Leather is among the fastest-growing corporations in the nation. It is based in Dallas.
