Officials say they hope 25,000 children will get immunizations and more than 200,000 families will be taught about the importance of childhood vaccinations with a grant from the United Way of Southern Nevada.
United Way President and Chief Executive Cass Palmer said the agency allocated more than $425,000 last week for the Shots 4 Tots initiative and $63,000 for a Future Smiles dental health program.
Agencies taking part in the program include the Southern Nevada Health District, 100 Black Men of Las Vegas, The Latin Chamber of Commerce, The Philippine Nurses Association and The Philippine Medical Association.
This summer, the Cunningham Elementary School health center will offer uninsured children free dental care on a walk-in basis.
July hours include most Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, plus two Thursdays and a Monday.
