Nevada Health Centers launches ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign for MLK Center

Nevada Health Centers Inc. has launched a “Buy a Brick” campaign to help fund a 31,000-square-foot health facility it plans to open this spring at 1799 Mount Mariah Drive.

The nonprofit organization said in a statement that the Martin Luther King Health Center will offer sliding fee scales for the underinsured.

People can purchase bricks for a donation of $100, $350 or $500. The bricks will pave the path leading to the front entrance of the health center. Each brick offers up to four lines of engraved text.

“This operation will become a monument of our community, and it’s an easy way for businesses to show their support,” said Shirley Hampton, chief development officer of vada Health Centers. “We serve many patients of small and large business owners who cannot afford health insurance for their employees.”

She said the goal is to have at least 200 bricks purchased.

The statement said a report by the Department of Health and Human Services Nevada State Health Division put Nevada 48th nationally for access and affordability to children’s health care. The new building will more than double the size of the current Martin Luther King Health Center. In addition to family practice and pediatric services, Nevada Health Centers will add OB/GYN care to the new site.

Nevada Health Centers operates six health clinics in Clark County and 19 in Nevada.
