Homeless Connect to give homeless resources

Project Homeless Connect is scheduled today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North, on the corner of Washington Street and Las Vegas Boulevard.

The annual event connects homeless people with housing, food, job training, health care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment and other services. More than 3,000 people received help during last year’s event.

According to a January 2011 homeless census, more than 9,400 homeless people are staying in shelters or living on Clark County streets.

Volunteers are still needed for the event. For more information call 892-2300 or visit helphopehome.org.
