Dress the Part
April 27, 2007 - 9:00 pm
Since dresses make up the key item you should own this season, we thought we would expand upon our list of designers that we started last week. We show you what types of dresses you can expect to find from fashion designers this spring. We even tell you where you can buy clothing from the designers here in Las Vegas.
Here’s a look at nine more looks you’ll want to browse.
Betsey Johnson
When you want something whimsical, frilly and out-of-the-ordinary, look to Betsey Johnson. Her styles typify the dresses worn by the young and young-at-heart. You can find Betsey Johnson at her boutiques at Fashion Show mall and Desert Passage.
EMILIO PUCCI
Pucci designs are easy to pick out of a fashion lineup; think ’60s inspiration mod looks here. But since designer Matthew Williamson took over the design reigns, he has punched up those prints with electric colors. You can find Emilio Pucci at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
MARC JACOBS
This season, Marc Jacobs took a page from F. Scott Fitzgerald with his designs. He added drop waists to his dresses and incorporated his favorite design trick, layering. You can find Marc Jacobs at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
MATTHEW WILLIAMSON
Matthew Williamson should be the name you turn to when you plan to stay out all night at a party. His color palettes and designs suggest that you’re on a permanent vacation. You can find Matthew Williamson at Outfit at the Wynn Las Vegas.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA
Seek out Oscar de la Renta when you want looks that would be appropriate on the beaches of French Riviera or a day with the ladies. Sundresses in bright and bold patterns along with bubbles in silk gazar or taffeta dominated his collection. You can find Oscar de la Renta at the Wynn Las Vegas.
STELLA MCCARTNEY
Easy does it seems to be Stella McCartney’s mantra this spring. Look for slouchy shirt dresses, silk organza trapezes and puff-sleeved sack dresses. You can find Stella McCartney at Talulah G.
TEMPERLEY LONDON
Designer Alice Temperley toils in hand embellishments that make the bohemian trend continue to stick around. Her excellent draping skills make a bubble stand out on a mini-dress. Look for Temperley at Outfit at the Wynn Las Vegas, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
THAKOON
Thakoon Panichgul, a relative newcomer to the fashion scene, found inspiration in the delicate petals of a flower. Look for these inspirations on trapeze dresses made of organza and taffeta. You can find Thakoon at Talulah G.
TRACY REESE
Tracy Reese has a look that most women can embrace — vintage and tres feminine. She seems more in tune with the average woman who wants to spend a little cash on a dress. You can find Tracy Reese at Macy’s, Intermix, Scoop NYC and Saks Fifth Avenue.
the price is right
You don’t have to spend a fortune to add a dress to your collection. Note the shapes that you like, and then look for similar silhouettes at your favorite store. Look for dresses at Forever 21, Target, Bebe, Ann Taylor, Zara, French Connection or Old Navy.
