BACK IN BLACK

They’re baaaaaack! The girls who made you wonder why their lover has to get with their friends have blossomed into women. And the Spice Girls have no problem dressing the part. Well, four of them at least.
The best way to tell the world you’ve shed your lollipop and roller skates image? The little black dress, of course.
For Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), that would be the LBS — the little black suit. The most low-profile member of the girl group stays true to her nickname and shuns the frills. But, unlike her former self, she does it without a track suit. Embracing the new menswear trend, Chisholm buttoned a tailored jacket over a pair of leggings. The effect lands far from tomboy territory.
Hardly a baby anymore, Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) reflects pure ladylike elegance in this lace overlay dress. The pigtails she once took a liking to wouldn’t stand a chance with this modest, classy number.
She may be pushing the girls up and securely holding the rest of it in, but if you looked this good six months after giving birth, you’d do the same. Throw a contested paternity suit into the equation and Melanie Brown’s (Scary Spice) snug cocktail dress earns even further props. Satin, knee-length and strapless, this dress has revenge written all over it.
For Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), anything without the flag of Great Britain splattered all over it makes us happy. This tulle dress with bust detail lets her spunkiness shine through without going overboard. The wide patent leather belt furthers the fun element but keeps things tasteful, too.
She may get the least mic time but Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) doesn’t let that stop her from stealing the spotlight. The fashion plate takes risks that pay off, right down to her open-toe boots. Her scoop neck top and abbreviated A-line skirt reveal all the spice the Spice Girls need.
If you have a big comeback looming, take a cue from the girl group you love to hate: count on black to reintroduce yourself.
