CineVegas hands out top prizes

“Look,” which focuses on surveillance cameras that track daily life, took the Grand Jury Prize at the recently concluded CineVegas film festival.

Special jury awards went to “Tie a Yellow Ribbon” (best directing) and “All God’s Children Can Dance” (distinctive visual expression), while “Throwing Stars” and “I Have Never Forgotten You: The Life and Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal” captured audience awards for narrative and documentary feature, respectively.

“The Living Wake” won the Heineken Red Star Award for its unique vision; in the festivals new Mexican cinema section, “Bad Habits (Malos Habitos)” captured La Proxima Ola Jury Prize.

Jennifer Aniston and Andrea Buchanan’s “Room 10” received the Short Film Jury Prize, while “Spanking Lessons” (from David Schmoeller of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas) won the CineVegas Nevada Short Film Jury Prize.
