Having a swimming pool in the backyard has been quite common for decades throughout the Las Vegas Valley. They usually came in a variety of off-the-rack flavors from rectangular, to square, oval or maybe some sort of freestyle curvy cutie, when homeowners told their pool builders to be a little creative. Then when the pool guys began adding spas, oh yeah, that’s when you became the talk of the neighborhood.

Early indoor-outdoor design

When Dan Coletti designed Barbara Adcock’s more than 7,000-square-foot home 13 years ago in Anthem Country Club, the Sun West Custom Homes designer incorporated pocket doors to bring the outdoors in, which was almost unheard of back then.

Longtime Las Vegans may have driven down east Russell Road between Sandhill Road and Annie Oakley Drive and wondered about the vast equestrian estate behind gates bearing the initial stamp TJF, which stands for Thomas A. Private golf club community in Summerlin takes shape

You can see where the 18-hole, Tom Fazio course is being shaped into the heart of what will become The Summit Club, a ultra-luxury residential community near Tropicana Avenue and Town Center Drive, just south of The Ridges in Summerlin.

When Garry Goett and his team at Olympia Cos. starting acquiring land in the southwest part of the Las Vegas Valley in 1995, he envisioned someday creating a village-style community with the warm, cozy feeling of being “quietly close to everything.”
