Spanish Palms is home sweet home for retired veteran

Spanish Palms, the guard-gated community at 5250 S. Rainbow Blvd., is home to residents of all ages and in all phases of life, including first-time buyers, young professionals and those looking to enjoy their golden years. Resident Eden Urbano, a retired veteran originally from the Philippines, is enjoying a new life at Spanish Palms, thanks to the community’s many amenities and like-minded neighbors.

“I spent more than two decades tending to patients as a general practice physician in the Navy, and I finally realized it was my turn to enjoy life and to take on a new role as a proud homeowner at Spanish Palms,” Urbano said. “My sister had lived here before I made the move, and because I visited frequently, I was already familiar with the city’s unrivaled attractions, great weather and affordable cost of living. When my sister passed away, it further inspired me to pursue a new life in Las Vegas and to continue exploring the city that my sister loved so much.”

Urbano traded in Illinois for Las Vegas in 2011. As a former single-family-home owner, she was ready to make the transition to a gated community with an increased sense of security, not to mention a maintenance-free lifestyle without the worry of weekly yardwork.

“I was immediately drawn to the 24-(hour) guard-gated community and peace of mind Spanish Palms offers its residents,” she said. “The variety of floor plans easily met my space needs, and I love the lush landscaping that creates a real sense of peace and sanctuary. Plus, Spanish Palms is centrally located just minutes from everything I need, including shopping, dining and health care facilities.”

Urbano especially appreciates Spanish Palms’ Las Vegas address that encourages friends and family to visit.

“My neighborhood is close enough to the Strip to make everything accessible, yet it offers quiet and escape when I want to get away from it all. I’m surrounded by many amazing restaurants, which I’m thankful for because I don’t have to cook. The church I attend is right around the corner. And I’ve convinced my sister from California and a friend from Chicago to make Spanish Palms their home, too. We’re having a blast together.”

Spanish Palms has enhanced amenities, such as a fitness studio, a private clubhouse for gatherings and parties, and two resort-style pools. The centerpiece of the community is Central Park, which features lush, well-manicured landscaping with barbecue grills that are ideal for picnics and entertaining, plenty of shaded areas and a playground, putting green, gazebo and pet park complete with an agility course.

Located near the center of the valley, Spanish Palms is near the Strip and McCarran International Airport, and it is surrounded by popular restaurants, retail centers and neighborhood services.

Spanish Palms offers several financing programs, including Veterans Affairs-, Federal Housing Administration- and Fannie Mae-backed loans. Today, only 21 of its 372 homes are still available for purchase. Spanish Palms offers three floor plans, ranging between 744 square feet and more than 1,131 square feet, and it has homes starting from $138,900.
