Make the Most of Your ‘Extra Hour’ at Cadence

Lovers of daylight, rejoice! Daylight saving time is just over the horizon. At 2 a.m. March 12, the days will get a little bit “longer” here in Southern Nevada.

When you and Fido once had to take a 6 p.m. walk in the dark, you’ll now be greeted with warm rays; where your late afternoon pickleball match once was held under floodlights, you’ll be greeted with natural light. And, when you had to turn on your bike lights for your postwork ride home, you now can save that battery life for another journey.

So, the question is: What are you going to do with your “extra hour” of daylight? Perhaps no better place to take advantage of a little extra sun is Cadence, an outdoors lover’s paradise with activity options galore in Henderson.

Cadence boasts 450 acres of open space, which includes an expansive Central Park and 100-acre sports park. The community offers a bike-share program and free Wi-Fi in Central Park, and ti interconnects with the many Henderson bicycle and walking trails, such as the Las Vegas Wash and River Mountains Loop trails.

Cadence is located just minutes from other outdoor hot spots, including Lake Las Vegas, Cowabunga Bay Water Park and the Lake Mead National Recreational Area, as well as Galleria Mall at Sunset, The District at Green Valley Ranch, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals and a number of retail centers and restaurants.

On the sports front, Cadence’s recently opened pickleball courts in Central Park quickly have become home to new players and casual aficionados. Pickleball is an easy to learn and easy on the knees sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis.

Cadence residents can cool down from their activities — or keep the workout going — in a six-lane lap pool and colorful 2,000-square-foot splash pad. The resident-exclusive community pool features unobstructed, panoramic views of the Las Vegas Strip.

Looking ahead, kids of all ages can gear up for an outdoor adventure this summer with the opening of Cadence’s adventure park. Separate playgrounds for younger children and teens will include climbing and water play features and a rope course and slides, with activities scaled for age and ability.

In addition to several smaller neighborhood parks, three dog parks will open in the fall: a fenced-in park for large dogs and one for small dogs that will rotate locations with a third to allow for grass recovery.

Upon completion, the greater Cadence community will span 2,200 acres and feature 13,250 homes. Currently, 30 model homes from builders Woodside Homes, CalAtlantic Homes, Richmond American Homes and Heritage by Lennar are available for prospective homebuyers to tour.
