Dia de los Muertos farmers’ market in Inspirada set for Oct. 28

Inspirada, a master-planned community in Henderson, is brewing up a special Dia de los Muertos edition of its farmers’ market at Solista Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 28, just in time for Halloween.

In partnership with Wonderland Gallery in downtown Las Vegas’ The Arts Factory, guests will be treated to creative masterpieces by more than a dozen local artists, who will exhibit and sell their work. Artists include Richard Bistrup, Karen Disorbo, Lou Isms, Lisa Herr and Joseph Watson. Artists will display their best Day of the Dead-inspired work, including beautifully crafted skeletons and intricate candy skulls.

“The Dia de los Muertos farmers’ market is just another way we keep our event programming colorful and exciting for residents and community members,” said Jim Rizzi, Inspirada project manager. “We want current and future residents to recognize that home ownership comes with an inspired lifestyle, complete with yearlong activities just like this one.”

Wonderland Gallery co-owner and proprietor Kat Tatz was also instrumental in Inspirada’s Art Fest last May.

“My business partner, Lynne, and I attend a lot of art fairs locally and in other cities where the art scene is heavily embraced by residents, and the Inspirada Art Fest definitely rivaled some of the larger, more successful events we’ve seen,” Tatz said. “Inspirada provides such a beautiful and welcoming backdrop for this family-friendly event, and we look forward to another successful day for our artists.”

Tatz, who has deep roots and influence in the local art community, said that nearly every artist who participated in the Art Fest couldn’t wait to participate in another show, and they look forward to selling more prints and original artwork next weekend.

In addition, guests can shop the farmers’ market for artisan and organic goods from fresh52 vendors, including fruits and vegetables, soaps, oils and vinegars, spices and teas. It also will feature a workshop and tastings for vegan candy by chef Mayra Trabulse, along with live music, a children’s art activity, face-painting and a balloon artist.

Additional farmers’ market dates include Nov. 11, featuring a vegan-style Thanksgiving cooking demonstration by Trabulse, and Dec. 9, which will feature a holiday market with Inspirada resident crafts, performances by local school choirs and a visit from Santa Claus.

Inspirada LLC is the developer of residential villages No. 1-No. 7, per an agreement with the city of Henderson that enables the projected build-out of 8,500 homes. Inspirada is ranked as the ninth top-selling master-planned community in the nation and the best-selling master-planned community in Henderson.

The community is currently home to more than 4,000 residents who have access to programs and activities managed by a full-time staff that creates social calendars to bring neighbors together in the parks and the Inspirada Community Center. It is home to four parks — Solista, Capriola, Potenza and Aventura — some with resident-only heated pools, barbecue/picnic areas, basketball, bocce and volleyball courts, soccer fields, splash pad and dog park.
