99 Words About … The return of NBC’s ‘Community’

They don’t think they’re smarter than fans of other sitcoms.

They know they are.

Lovers of “Community” — back tonight (8 p.m., KSNV-TV, Channel 3) after a three-month hiatus — can be insufferable, tweeting #sixseasonsandamovie while yammering about paintball, blanket forts and a monkey named Annie’s Boobs.

But the thing is, they’re right.

It’s easily TV’s most daring comedy. And its least accessible.

No other series demands a working knowledge of everything from “My Dinner with Andre” to “Glee.”

If you’re looking for simple laughs, that’s why God made CBS.

For everyone else — that roughly 1 percent of you — there’s “Community.”
