99 Words About … The problems facing ABC’s ‘Cougar Town’

It’s at least twice as entertaining as anything named “Cougar Town” has the right to be.

And still it’s in trouble, burdened by short attention spans — when the comedy returns (8:30 p.m. Tuesday, KTNV-TV, Channel 13), it will have been off the air nearly nine months — and the worst title since “Homeboys in Outer Space.”

Having long outgrown its Courteney Cox-boinking-younger-dudes origins, it’s blossomed into a sweetly hilarious story of friendship, wine, random silliness, wine and the simple joys of throwing pennies into cans.

And wine.

But “Friends” is taken.

And “Random Silliness and Wine” doesn’t scream “watch me,” either.
