99 Words About … The overpopulation of ‘True Blood’

It’s getting pretty crowded in Bon Temps.

“True Blood” (9 p.m. Sunday, HBO) began as the story of a mind-reading waitress, her dim-bulb brother, short-tempered friend, kind-hearted boss and the dreamy new vampire in town.

Now, there’s all manner of vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, faeries and brujos.

At least there aren’t zombies.

Yet.

The premiere’s opening credits list 20 cast members, with more on the way. That’s not an ensemble. That’s a hot mess.

With each season more nutso than the last, it’s tempting to quote Lafayette: “That’s the sickest (expletive) I’ve seen on TV, and I watch ‘Dance Moms.’ ”
