99 Words About … NBC’s early look at ‘Go On’

NBC terrified critics last week with plans to move away from shows like “Community” to attract a broader audience.

The troubled network will get that with Matthew Perry’s “Go On,” but mostly because it’s sneak previewing directly after the Olympics on Wednesday.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much “Community” – disparate, multi-generational group of underachievers thrust together – with less-appealing supporting characters.

As a recent widower, Perry holds the support-group comedy together through the sheer force of his will.

But while some of its humor is broad, its appeal likely is anything but.

After all, what’s more universally hilarious than the grieving process?
