Tuxedoed crooner Buble bringing 13-piece band to MGM Grand

If Frank Sinatra was still around and looking for songs to cover, would he croon Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”?

If our only gauge is Michael Buble, then the answer is yes.

This generation’s tuxedoed crooner doesn’t stop with the George Gershwin and Cole Porter standards.

On his fall tour he’s been singing the Daft Punk hit, along with classic pop songs of the ’60s and ’70s, ranging from the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” to the Bee Gees’ “To Love Somebody.”

He has the right dress code and the 13-piece band, but so far Buble has avoided Las Vegas for more than the occasional arena tour stop, such as Saturday’s at the MGM Grand Garden.

But there’s still plenty of time for a Las Vegas “residency” to quit being the “R-word” for him. Buble is still just 38, and Sinatra was 45 when the Rat Pack convened to shoot “Ocean’s Eleven” at the Sands.
