Venture into Joe Rogan’s mind at The Joint

“I think everything that I say is already marginalized,” Joe Rogan told the Review-Journal prior to a gig in town earlier in the year. “I’m a cage fighting commentary guy/former ‘Fear Factor’ host/dirty stand-up comedian. I don’t have to worry about being fired from my job because my co-workers think I’m weird.”

As such, Rogan’s fond of free-range discourse, equally at home discussing civil liberties, astrophysics and aliens.

Onstage, he’s an animated presence, a human lighting bolt, whose material is as unbounded as his energy levels.

“The more areas of curiosity that you have, the more different subjects you can explore and introduce to an audience,” Rogan says. “When people come and see a show, they want it to be interesting. If I got onstage and just talked about the UFC for two hours, that would be great for about 50 percent of the audience, but for the rest of the audience, that would suck hard.

“They want to be taken on a journey of the mind,” he adds, “and the more varied your mind is, the deeper the journey you can take them on.”
