Strip Tips: Culture, kitsch and karaoke

Feed your cultural side with some art on the Strip, then feed your kitschy side with a spin of a funky gaming wheel. If you’re feeling talented, sing some karaoke, too.

Place your bets

Finally, table games are worth playing now that celebrity impersonator Frank Marino’s betting wheel made its debut on the Strip. Who needs silly numbers to place your bets on when you can put your money on the likenesses of impersonators from Marino’s “Divas Las Vegas” show? Fans and gambling addicts can play the big betting wheel in the casino at Imperial Palace. And then you can go and see “Divas” in the hotel’s theater. For more information, visit frankmarino.com.

Be a rock star

If you’re looking for a place to sing and get free booze while doing it, check out Live Rock Star Karaoke at Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, adults 21 and older can take the stage — where Hagar himself has performed — and sing with the live band, 3 Digit IQ. As participants, you’ll get a free shot of tequila, whether you’re good or not. Karaoke starts at 9 p.m. Call 385-2226.

Artist signing

Also at Miracle Mile’s Wyland Gallery, metal artist Chris DeRubeis is scheduled to sign autographs from 1 to 5 p.m. today and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. If you buy any art at the gallery, you’ll receive a free limited-edition Wyland lithograph. Call 699-5363.

Kat prints

Tattoo artist and reality TV star Kat Von D was in town Thursday, meeting fans at Sephora in the Forum Shops at Caesars. Yep, you missed it. But you can still get a little piece of her through Sunday. Kat created 50 original art prints to help raise money for The Art of Elysium, an organization that helps artists enrich the lives of critically ill children. The prints are on sale at Sephora through Sunday.

Question

Can I still audition for “X Factor”?

Yes. The MyStudio booth where auditions are recorded will be on site at Planet Hollywood Resort through April 15. The hours will run from 10 a.m. to midnight Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. You must be 12 or older. Producers want a variety of talent in all musical genres but stressed the need for vocal groups. It will help if you visit thexfactorusa.com, the “X Factor” website and sign up for your audition.
