Strip Tips: Art and cupcakes
This week, get a taste of the Rat Pack and take in some art at the same time. Then mark the occasion with Frrrozen Hot Chocolate.
Rat Pack Bronze
Dean Martin’s daughter, Deana, will be on hand when a bronze statue of her father is unveiled Saturday at Regis Galerie in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. The gallery commissioned Los Angeles-based artist Lance Richlin to make the sculpture depicting Martin performing on a marble staircase.
The piece will be the third in the gallery’s Rat Pack Bronze collection, joining fellow Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. Three hundred sculptures will be made in this series, with each statue retailing for $6,500 and $5,500 the day of the unveiling. Ten percent of sales made that day will be donated to the American Lung Association.
The unveiling starts at 1 p.m. and festivities are planned until 4 p.m.
Art auction
The world’s largest private gallery, Martin Lawrence Galleries at Caesars Palace, is hosting its first public auction Saturday. The 26,000-square-foot gallery opened last year, joining a handful of new private galleries on the Strip.
Martin Lawrence specializes in just about every genre of art and artist. Among the pieces being auctioned is Liudmila Kondakova’s “Rooftops of Paris at Night.” The auction starts at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Special menu
Serendipity 3 is marking its third anniversary with a special menu, three courses for $33.33. The anniversary menu is available through the month and offers choices between chicken strips, sliders, salads, burgers, spaghetti and meatballs and, Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. This is the drink for which Serendipity 3 is famous.
Every day at 3:33 p.m., through the end of the week, three diners will be chosen at random to receive special birthday cupcakes. For reservations, call 731-7778.

Which would you rather take on the Strip: the bus, monorail or taxi?
The bus is the most economical choice and can be as fast as a taxi in some instances. It also covers a large distance, like a taxi, but you won’t have to sit through the whole ride wondering how much it’s going to cost when you arrive at your destination. A two-hour pass costs $5. For $7, you can get a 24-hour pass to ride the Deuce, a CAT bus that offers around-the-clock service on the Strip.
