Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week

Jay Leno

What’s up in the news, Jay? Oh, that little matter of NBC replacing you with Jimmy Fallon next year and moving “The Tonight Show” to New York. Can we talk you into an encore of the “West Side Story” parody of “Tonight” you did with Fallon? We bet you have plenty to say, spoken if not sung, in your first lame-duck congress today and Saturday at The Mirage. Tickets are $74.94-$96.94; call 792-7777.

Danzig

None-more-black rocker Glen Danzig celebrates the 25th anniversary of the debut of the band that bears his surname on his current tour while also playing tunes from his previous, punkier groups The Misfits and Samhain. See Danzig at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $35 in advance, $39 day of show; call 632-7600.

‘Beyond the Pines’

As the tatted-up stunt cyclist in a traveling circus, Ryan Gosling is electric in “The Place Beyond the Pines.” Seriously, nobody working today can make you root for a lowlife the way he can. As the wet-behind-the-ears cop, that Bradley Cooper guy is not too shabby, either. Based on the way it starts, you’d never guess “Pines” would end up where it does.

Fair and rodeo

All’s fair — literally — in Logandale as the Clark County Fair continues its four-day run, with music, food, entertainment (including those “America’s Got Talent” champs, the Olate Dogs), a carnival midway and competitions ranging from pro rodeo to Swifty Swine pig racing. The fun goes from 10 a.m. to midnight today and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at 301 W. Whipple Ave.; for tickets ($7-$9 for the fair alone, $21 for the fair-and-rodeo combo), call 888-876-3247 or go online to www.ccfair.com.

Sander van Doorn

Vegas’ dayclub/pool parties are in full spring swing. So The Cosmopolitan’s Marquee Dayclub offers up Sander van Doorn on Sunday. His original songs, such as “Chasin” and “Joyenergizer,” are perfect up-tempo fun tunes for a day in suntan lotion.
