Six Picks: David Spade, Metric, film fest, Jeffrey Siegel, wine and beer fest, Markus Schulz

David Spade

David Spade may be the Las Vegas headliner of the longest duration with the least material. You never feel like he’s telling you jokes as much as just telling you about his day. And if you’re there to listen, you know why. It’s the bad attitude. Tickets are $65.75-$105.75 for 9 p.m. shows today and Saturday at The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South; call 414-9000.

Metric

“Go, go, go, go!” Metric frontwoman Emily Haines chants on “Youth Without Youth,” the first single from their latest disc, “Synthetica,” not that she needs to: The band’s kinetic, unflagging electro rock gets her point across in unequivocal fashion. See Metric at 7 p.m. Saturday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $35; call 632-7600.

Film fest

Sure, you can walk like a zombie, but can you eat a cupcake like one? Tonight’s opening festivities for the third annual PollyGrind film festival include the Zombie & Cosplay Red Carpet Walk at 7 p.m., followed by the zombie cupcake-eating contest at 8 p.m. at theatre7 and Gallery 222, located at Third Street and Imperial Avenue. For more information, go to pollygrind.com.

Jeffrey Siegel

‘S Wonderful – that’s the word for “Keyboard Conversations with Jeffrey Siegel: Gershwin and Friends,” Sunday at The Smith Center for The Performing Arts. Siegel will play George Gershwin’s rarely heard piano solo version of “Rhapsody in Blue” and Leonard Bernstein’s unpublished “Meditation on a Wedding” (a Vegas premiere), plus Aaron Copland’s “Cat and the Mouse,” Scott Joplin’s “Wall Street Rag” and more. For tickets ($35), visit thesmithcenter.com.

– Carol Cling

Grapes & Hops

Wine, beer and food – but no kangaroos – will be on the menu during the Grapes & Hops Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Springs Preserve. Admission (for 21 and older) is $35 in advance, $40 at the gate, or $60 per couple, which includes unlimited samples of wine and beer and food. Proceeds will benefit Par for the Cure, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. For advance tickets, go to www.SpringsPreserve.org.

– Heidi Knapp Rinella

Markus Schulz

DJ-producer Markus Schulz performs Sunday at Marquee, along with A-Trak. And Schulz, raised in Germany but based in Miami, will be presented with his award for “America’s Best DJ,” by DJ Times, downtown after Sunday evening’s GlowRun, at about 8:30 p.m. in front of the El Cortez.
