Serge Devant, Robin Thicke among week’s performers
I always forget to ask DJ-producers if it’s weird when they hear other DJs’ remixes of their original hits. But I remembered to ask Serge Devant, one of the best songwriters in dance music.
“I’m a control freak, so a lot of times I have to fight myself not to be a critic about it,” says Devant, who DJs tonight at The Cosmopolitan’s Marquee nightclub.
“And then, I go, ‘Let me just step back. This is your vision. This is your remix,’ ” he says.
“When you get a remix from somebody that you wanted, it’s like Christmas to see how they do it with their vision,” he adds. “It’s a pretty cool feeling.”
Devant is at Marquee while on tour promoting his new album, “Rewind.”
