May Day is Lei Day for California hotel

Polynesian entertainment, crafts and culinary treasures will be featured Saturday and Sunday during the 14th annual Lei Day Polynesian Festival at the California hotel.

Festivities will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days in the parking venue adjacent to the hotel at Stewart Avenue and Main Street.

Demonstrations and activities are planned to highlight Hawaiian culture during the free festival. Vendors will display and sell arts and crafts.

A concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ohana Maile Room will feature Hawaiian recording artists Diana Aki, Nohelani Cypriano and Mailani Makainai. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Details are available by calling 388-2705 or 385-1222.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the free Island Fever Block Party will take place on the festival grounds featuring local bands and plenty of food.
