Las Vegas for Less: Punk, honky tonk, R&B, blues, SummerFest

A mixed bag

If you dig Vegas punk rock, check out some of the dudes who are indivisible from its DNA with the Naked City Romeos, which is comprised of current and former members of seminal local acts such as The Vermin, M.I.A., Bad Habits and more. See them at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road. Show is free; call 791-5775.

Honky-tonk hits

Country music isn’t meant for those with polite sensibilities, and the Rowdy Band knows this. Hear ’em play plenty of honky-tonk hits and more at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Roxy’s at Sam’s Town, 5111 Boulder Highway. No cover; call 456-7777.

A new gospel

He grew up singing in church. Now, Ryan Shaw brings his old-school R&B to a decidedly less sanctified setting when he performs at 10:30 p.m. today and Saturday at Book & Stage at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Shows are free; call 698-7000.

Fun for kids

Kick off summer vacation, for the kids, anyway, with SummerFest, which has performing and visual arts demonstrations, kids’ activities, music and more, at 5 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water St. Event is free; call 267-2171.

It’s classic

See some classic rock and classic blues at a classic price – free – with the John Zito Electric Jam at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Count’s Vamp’d, 6750 W. Sahara Ave. No cover; call 220-8849.
