Sometimes careers blow up so fast, you can wonder when you weren’t paying attention.
Kevin Hart did his stand-up in the Terry Fator theater at The Mirage in May, and now he’s packing arenas.
The “Laugh at My Pain” comedian then hosted last summer’s BET Awards and then followed that with MTV’s Video Music Awards.
But he surprised everyone — even himself, he has said — with the success of the independent feature film of last year’s stand-up tour, “Laugh at My Pain.” The self-financed concert film (with added documentary footage) began mopping up during a slow fall movie season; seems people wanted to laugh more than see “Contagion.”
Hart brings his new “Let Me Explain” set to the Mandalay Bay Events Center on his way to his goal of being a full-fledged media mogul. But, he told Entertainment Weekly, “Regardless of how big my career is, I want to be known as a real human being.
“It’s not just the stand-up. It’s, ‘Wow, this guy is an open book. He’s real.’ ”
