Rodeo promotions take center stage

The National Finals Rodeo runs Wednesday through Dec. 15, and as always, several of the casinos are tailoring their promotions to the occasion.

On Dec. 15, the Golden Nugget will give away a 2008 Ford F-150 truck. Tickets can be earned starting Wednesday at the tables, slots or by redeeming rodeo ticket stubs. The winner does not have to be present at this drawing.

Slots A Fun will hold daily drawings for cash and prizes at 4 p.m. Dec. 10-14 and at 3 p.m. Dec. 15. At 10 p.m. Dec. 15, the casino will draw for additional cash and prizes including a custom-made hand-tooled saddle worth approximately $3,000. Check at the players club booth for details regarding how to earn entries and if you must be present at the drawings to win.

December’s jackpot prize at the El Cortez is a denim shirt with a limit of six per person. Players hitting a $200-plus jackpot on slots or a $300-plus jackpot on video poker can pick up a shirt or a (no-limit) $10 gasoline/grocery/merchandise gift card.

At 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through Dec. 22, Santa Fe poker and table game players can win a variety of electronic prizes including iPods, LCD and plasma TVs, digital cameras and Best Buy gift cards. Players receive one entry for every average $10 bet per hour in the pit or for every hour of live play in the poker room. Winners must be present at the drawing to win.

The California, Fremont and Main Street Station are giving away Coca-Cola holiday plush toys through Dec. 27. Players earning 100 points ($100 coin-in; no point redemption required) in a day or betting an average of $20 for a minimum of two hours at the tables can pick up the plush toy of the week.

The Opera House casino has removed all table games to make room for additional slots.
