Promotions target poker players at Riviera, Venetian

Two Strip casinos are offering interesting promotions to poker players. At the Riviera, poker players logging at least 40 hours of play prior to Dec. 11 will receive an entry into the $30,000 Freeroll Poker Tournament scheduled for Dec. 13-16. The first prize at the tournament is a Ford Mustang. Every week through Nov. 26, The Venetian will place the names of the top 50 poker players (rated by the highest number of cash game hours for the week) into a drawing and select two names to attend the "Biggest Football Party of the Year" on Feb. 3 (sorry, we cannot use the S-word). Drawings take place at 9 p.m. every Thursday, and players must be present to win.

This month, the Gold Coast and Suncoast are giving away special cash bonuses in their bingo rooms. Players earn drawing tickets with their buy-ins at all regular sessions and must be present and playing at the Wednesday 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. sessions. There will be one $500, one $250 and five $100 cash prizes at each drawing. Both casinos also will give away a stainless steel thermos at all sessions on Oct. 20.

On Tuesday, Sam’s Town will give away a pill box to all players at all bingo sessions, and on Oct. 23, players will receive a set of four glass dishes. A minimum buy-in is required to receive the gifts.

Club Coast members paying for their meals with points at the Suncoast on Fridays and Saturdays this month will receive a 50 percent discount. The casino also is offering double points on those days.
