Day of Percussion scheduled for Sunday

The Nevada chapter of the Percussive Arts Society presents its annual Day of Percussion beginning at noon Sunday at the Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 N. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas.

The steel band concert will feature the combined steel band programs of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Community College of Southern Nevada and Coronado High School, all under the direction of Tom Miller.

The day’s clinicians and performers include Pepe Jimenez, Kalan and Pat Petrillo. There also will be a tribute to Frank Zappa featuring Marc Atkinson.

A $5 donation is suggested, and a separate $5 admission fee will be charged for the mass steel band concert at 6 p.m.
