Gilcrease Orchard open for picking

The Gilcrease Orchard is now open Tuesdays through Sundays for Las Vegans to pick their own fruits and vegetables.

Apricots, zucchini and pecans are available now, with tomatoes, cantaloupe and figs promised later this month.

The orchard is open from 7 a.m. to noon at the corner of North Tenaya Way and Whispering Sands.

Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children.

Long sleeve shirts, closed toe shoes and water are recommended for picking.
