So why is Skrillex such a great DJ?
Because he mixes fast, furious and with good taste – not just the dubstep he’s known for, but also trance, house, hip-hop, hard rock, punk and any other genre that sounds right to him at any given moment.
“Skrillex flies through different tempos and different genres,” explains underground DJ-producer Justin Martin.
“He’s not just playing what is known as dubstep, or what is known as electro. He’s going through all kinds of cool things,” Martin says.
And that’s why Skrillex is at the top of the mountain this busy Memorial Day weekend. He’s performing Saturday at Wynn’s Tryst, then Wednesday at Encore’s Surrender.
And wow, is it ever busy.
“The top DJs in the world will be in Vegas Memorial Day weekend, playing a pool or a nightclub,” says Shawn Sabo of DJ duo Manufactured Superstars.
