Sander van Doorn to be familiar face at Marquee

Dutch DJ-producer Sander van Doorn is popular — playing tonight at Marquee; wracking up dance hits; and hosting Identity radio on iTunes and Sirius radio.

So it was only natural he was asked to perform remixes for last year’s blockbuster video game “Halo 4.”

Like most gamers, he is good at “Halo 4’s” solo campaign, but terrible when he plays the multiplayer against real people.

“I had to go over to Amsterdam. There was this launch convention of the ‘Halo 4’ game,” van Doorn says.

“So I had to play against professional gamers. Because of that, I had to practice, and I got hooked on the game.

“But I got killed every single time I played against those players. It was insane, what they can do.”

That was a fun but humbling experience.

“I was playing against six players. And I was in eighth place. I don’t know if that means I’m really, really bad ,” he says and laughs.

Van Doorn will be at Marquee quite a bit this year.

“We just made a new deal, which means I’m going to do a lot more shows over at Marquee,” he says.

“It’s one of my favorite clubs to play in. The production is insane, the sound is really good, and the atmosphere is bloody amazing.”

The best way to keep track of van Doorn’s newest tracks and developments is to follow him on Twitter (@SandervanDoorn).
