Paris Las Vegas’ Chateau Nightclub and Gardens boasts unique features

When Chateau Nightclub and Gardens opens its doors for the first time Saturday, it will add a bit more credence to the idea that the nightclub is king on the Strip.

Not only is it opening during the worst economic downturn in Las Vegas’ history, it also will introduce a feature that creates some space between the club and the hotel-casino that hosts it. In what is perhaps a nod to the economic power that nightclubs have gained in recent years, guests won’t have to walk through the Paris Las Vegas casino to get into Chateau.

"It’s going to be the only club in town located on the Strip with access from Las Vegas Boulevard," managing partner Corey Jenkins says of the hotel’s sidewalk entrance.

The club, at 3655 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will be a combined 45,000-square-feet spread out over two stories. In addition to the main room, it also will feature a terrace and a rooftop garden. The terrace will operate as a beer garden during the day and morph into one of the club’s focal points at night, Jenkins says.

The vibe in front of the resort should become an important element in the nightclub, with clubgoers looking down on the sidewalk and passers-by looking in.

"It’s kind of Las Vegas’ Times Square right there. That’s where the energy and action meet," Jenkins says. "I think our location is really going to be important. No one’s done a terrace like this."

The Chateau’s theme is in line with the European feel of Paris Las Vegas, Jenkins says. Designers have given a modern twist to an old world theme, incorporating a color scheme indicative of French royalty with palates of lush golds, black and hints of rouge and garnet. Chandeliers hang throughout the main room. A grand spiral staircase leads to the club from the casino floor.

The DJ booth, located above a 10-foot-tall marble fireplace, is the focal point of the 15,000-square-foot main room. An LED screen stretches across the wall behind it, providing an electronic canvas for videos and other visual elements.

The gardens will open Memorial Day weekend on the rooftop under a leg of the Eiffel Tower. A super fast elevator will whisk guests up to the gardens.

Management is still working to line up resident DJs and other events, but Chateau will open with special guest Drake. Celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson will be behind the turntables.

The club will open at 10 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free to locals with ID on Tuesdays and local women always get in free. General admission is $20 for women, $30 for men. Cover charges for special events will vary.
