Marquee showcases well-known DJs to separate it from other dayclubs

A quick, easy way to tell one dayclub apart from another: the music.

Sure, they all have cabanas, daybeds, swimming pools. And most dayclubs have DJs, but they all spin a certain, unique style: mashup, house, techno and rap, says Jason Strauss, managing partner of Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Tao at The Venetian.

The newly opened Marquee dayclub will feature DJs who are at the top of their profession, well-known names such as Fatboy Slim, Above & Beyond and Doc Martin, Strauss says. Located on a 5,000-square-foot roof deck, Marquee features two swimming pools, blackjack tables, eight ultra-supreme cabanas with infinity pools, daybeds and chaise lounges.

When designing the new dayclub, Strauss says he wanted Marquee to provide the same high-end daylife experience that Tao Beach has been providing for years but with its own twist. Knowing that guests tend to follow their favorite DJs or gravitate toward venues that play their favorite music, management focused on that to help separate the two.

Even though Strauss was already in the dayclub business before opening Marquee, he wasn’t worried about competing against himself. The dayclub business is far from its saturation point on the Strip, he says.

"To us, we think that Vegas is flowing again," Strauss says. "Everything from corporate business to occupancy, we’ve seen such a growth spurt. We think the town is growing, we think Vegas is the nightlife capital of the world and that now includes the daylife. And we think that’s only going to expand."

Marquee is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Cover charge varies depending on events and holidays. There is no cover Mondays through Thursdays; Fridays and Sundays, cover for men is $20, $10 for women; Saturdays are $30 for men and $20 for women. Local ladies always get in free.
