Laidback Luke a DJ who pushes the envelope
Tonight’s music maker at club Haze is Laidback Luke, one of the most respected DJ-producers among his peers.
Luke “pushes the envelope,” DJ Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas told me recently, after I asked him to name some favorite spinners.
“(He’s) trying new sounds and new songs, not afraid to play some unfamiliar songs to the crowd. That becomes a trend,” Apl.de.ap said.
By the way, the Nightclub & Bar convention and trade show runs Monday-Wednesday at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The convention will feature 50 Cent, Toby Keith, Dennis Rodman, Vegas’ own Ne-Yo, a battle of the mixologists, plus a keynote speech from … Pauly Shore? Yep.
Rodman and other celebs will head to clubs for official convention parties and for, um, other reasons.
