Electric Daisy Carnival DJs spinning at clubs
So you didn’t score tickets to the sold-out Electric Daisy Carnival? Then go see several EDC stars at clubs on the Strip, instead.
This happens every year. DJs come to town for EDC. But they line up side gigs during downtime.
So here is a good primer on who to see, where to go, and what the clubs are offering.
FRIDAY
■ Fatboy Slim at Tao nightclub in The Venetian. Simply put, Fatboy (“Praise You,” “Rockafeller Skank”) is an ultra legend. And he spins fun and exciting sets for club cred.
■ Tiesto at Hakkasan nightclub in the MGM. Also legendary.
■ Carl Cox at Lavo nightclub in the Palazzo.
■ Benny Benassi at Marquee nightclub in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
■ Armin van Buuren with W&W and Blake Jarrell at Marquee Dayclub.
■ Wolfgang Gartner at Tryst nightclub in the Wynn.
■ Porter Robinson at Surrender nightclub in the Encore.
■ Above & Beyond at XS nightclub in the Wynn.
■ Arty, Cosmic Gate, Rebecca & Fiona, and Helena at Tao Beach at The Venetian.
■ Diplo at Encore Beach Club in the Encore.
■ Alesso at Light nightclub in Mandalay Bay.
■ Jazzy Jeff at Palms pool dayclub, then at Palms’ Moon.
■ Baauer (“Harlem Shake”) at Daylight dayclub at Mandalay Bay.
■ And if you’re looking for a non-EDC performance: Hip-hop’s Sean Paul (“She Doesn’t Mind,” “Got 2 Luv U”) performs at 1 Oak nightclub in The Mirage.
SATURDAY
■ Kaskade at Marquee. Hit-maker, humble and huge. He’s pretty great.
■ John Digweed at Lavo. Legendary.
■ Skrillex at Eclipse night pool at Mandalay Bay. The dubstep prince.
■ Afrojack at Surrender. Vegas’ biggest Dutch star.
■ Avicii (“Levels”) at Marquee Dayclub.
■ Calvin Harris (“Sweet Nothing”) at Hakkasan.
■ Steve Angello at Encore Beach Club, then at XS.
■ Alesso at Daylight.
■ Zedd and Baauer at Light. Zedd is amazing live. I haven’t seen Baauer yet.
■ Gareth Emery at Tao Beach.
■ Vice at Tao.
SUNDAY
■ Fatboy Slim at Rehab dayclub/pool at the Hard Rock Hotel.
■ Kaskade at Marquee Dayclub.
■ Sasha & Dubfire at Lavo after hours. Two legends in one night.
■ Krewella at Daylight dayclub-pool at Mandalay Bay.
■ Tiesto at MGM’s Wet Republic dayclub-pool.
■ Ferry Corsten and Markus Schulz at Tao Beach. Schulz won one of the industry’s biggest best-DJ awards.
■ Eric Prydz at XS.
■ Above & Beyond at Encore Beach Club.
■ Deadmau5 at Hakkasan. He produces incredible and personal house music, but Deadmau5 veers from great to dull at live shows.
MONDAY
■ Afrojack at Encore Beach Club, then at XS with Diplo.
■ Mark Knight and Umek at Marquee Dayclub.
■ Chuckie at Marquee.
WEDNESDAY
■ Above & Beyond at Surrender.
THURSDAY
■ Tommy Trash at Hakkasan.
■ AN21 and Max Vangeli at Surrender.
■ Wiz Khalifa performs at Tao, where the DJ is Five.
