BT spinning at Marquee, Tao Beach
BT doesn’t DJ enough in Vegas, but he is here this weekend. He spins late Saturday at Marquee (which also headlines Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano). Then, BT performs Sunday at Tao Beach.
BT (Brian Transeau) has made great music for more years than most DJ stars have in America. But lately, BT’s name has gotten lost in the pop-culture shuffle among Vegas regulars Deadmau5, Kaskade, Skrillex, Tiesto, Porter Robinson and so on.
So let’s recall BT’s importance in popularizing electronic dance music, after he entered the field as a classically trained piano whiz from a music conservatory and Berklee College of Music.
BT, 40, composed the film scores for “Go,” “Monster” and “The Fast and the Furious.”
He has made music with or for Tiesto, Peter Gabriel, Paul van Dyk and Tori Amos.
And the Maryland native performed here in Vegas back when European DJs were still eschewing Vegas and America for what was, at the time, our lack of mass appeal for the genre.
