Neil Young divorcing wife of 36 years
Neil Young has filed for divorce from his wife of 36 years, Pegi Young. The couple had collaborated through much of his career, including the founding of Bridge School.
According to Rolling Stone, a petition for dissolution of marriage was filed on July 29 in San Mateo, California, where the Youngs live. A hearing scheduled for Dec. 12.
Pegi Young worked with her husband frequently in his career, on stage and off. The two founded Bridge School in 1986, aimed at educating children with emotional and physical disabilities.
The school was inspired by their son, Ben, who suffers from cerebral palsy.
The two performed together on stage for the 2013 Bridge School Benefit, an annual festival led by Neil Young.
The couple were set to perform at Farm Aid, a music festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Sept. 13, but Pegi Young’s name was removed recently from the lineup.
