Weezer playing ‘Pinkerton’ at The Joint
January 21, 2011 - 12:00 am
Emo surely didn’t start with Weezer’s “Pinkerton” — look to records by bands such as Rites of Spring and Sunny Day Estate years before that disc was released — but it did get a good goosing thanks to the then unheralded, now celebrated 1996 album.
Moody, disconsolate and sentimental, the heavy-hearted disc would catalyze the careers of bands like The Get Up Kids and Motion City Soundtrack. Hear Weezer play it in its entirety, along with their 1994 debut, at 8:30 p.m. today in The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $45-$50; call 693-5583.
